What is World Liberty Financial?
World Liberty Financial is a DeFi platform co-founded by Eric Trump and officially launched by Donald Trump on Tuesday 15 October 2024.
Donald Trump acts as the “chief crypto advocate” of the platform.
Before the US election, sales for WLFI were paused because US investors feared SEC action. However, it was soon re-opened for public sale with a disclaimer that said WLFI is not registered as a security with the SEC.
Background: Donald Trump’s battle with the SEC started at the 2024 Bitcoin Conference in Nashville where he called out the Biden administration’s anti-crypto crusade. Later, Trump also promised to fire SEC chief Gary Gensler as soon as he became president. This later prompted, SEC chief Gary Gensler to exit his office on the same day as Trump became the US President, i.e., 20 January 2025.
To date, World Liberty Financial has gathered between $60 million and $90 million from selling 6.04 billion WLFI tokens. At press time, the World Liberty Financial token was available for purchase from its website (https://www.worldlibertyfinancial.com/intl/token-sale) at a price of $0.015.
